Apple is preparing to launch the MacBook Pro 2023, a generation of high-performance laptops that could arrive in the first quarter of next year, the latest being the transition to the Apple M3 SoC, a chip that will mean an improvement. Large compared to the M2.
Information is scarce, but we expect the Apple M3 SoC the new MacBook Pro will use to be built on a more advanced node, providing higher performance and greater efficiency. It’s not yet clear what Apple will do with the chip’s entry-level configuration, but we can also expect an increase in the 8-core maximum that the M2 chip has.
The M3 SoC is rumored to be a significant leap in performance over the M2 SoC, but nothing has been confirmed yet, so we should take all this information with caution. Going back to the MacBook Pro 2023, the source indicates that these new devices will not have major changes other than the new SoC.
If all of the above is confirmed, these new devices will retain the design of the current generation, including the notch on the screen, and Apple will stick to hardware improvements. Taking into account what we said about the SoC change, we will experience a great innovation despite this continuity in design.
After that, Apple will launch new devices based on the M3 SoC, as well as new versions of said chip capable of offering better performance. It is said that there will be a new family of iMac based on said chip, which makes sense as Apple released the current generation in 2021, and it was not renewed based on the Apple M2. It could be released in late 2023.
