The Taiwanese company presented the ASUS PL64, a new family of mini PCs with a very reduced size, improved design and passive cooling system, which makes it an interesting option for industrial environments, as well as for workspaces. Difficult working conditions (dusty areas, for example).
ASUS PL64 is available with Intel Alder Lake U-series processors, which are known to be low power consumption solutions and still offer a good level of performance. In their basic configuration, these computers integrate a Celeron 7305 processor, but can install a powerful Intel Core i5-1235U processor.
As we’d expect, it’s quite compact, measuring 199.7mm x 119.7mm x 33.99mm. Its structure is part of the passive cooling system, as it helps dissipate heat and prevents it from accumulating in the CPU. On the front are the 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, three USB 3.2 Gen1 jacks, two connection ports and the power button.
On the back we see three HDMI 2.0 outputs, two connectors for antennas that will allow us to expand the range of its wireless connectivity (it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5), a Gigabit LAN Ethernet port and a 2.5G Ethernet port. This computer supports up to 64GB of DDR4 memory, uses high-performance PCIe SSDs, and is military-grade MIL-STD-810H certified, which means it has a high degree of resistance to harsh environments.
ASUS PL64s has space for two SSDs in M.2 format, so storage capacity won’t be an issue even in the long run. They have a 4 year warranty. We don’t have details about its price, but we imagine that in its basic configuration it is very cheap.
