North Korea Fires Missiles Again, Says South Korean Ministry

North Korea today launched four short-range ballistic missiles, according to the Ministry of Defense of South Korea, which has just completed a joint military exercise with the United States.

The country led by Kim Jong a launched this week a series of missiles, amid increasing tensions in the region, in fear that North Korea resumes nuclear tests for the first time since 2017.

One of these releases even fired an alert in Japan for residents to seek refuge. However, the projectile did not fly over the country and fell to the Pacific Ocean, according to Japanese authorities.

Meanwhile, the South Koreans ended today a joint military exercise of six days with the United States. The United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and South Korea Defense Minister Lee Jong-Suup said in a statement that they were looking for new measures to demonstrate “the determination and capabilities of the coalition after the repeated North Korea provocations.”

The South Korean authority indicated that these measures violate the United Nations’ sanctions against Pyongyang.

The United States condemned the release of the ballistic missile among the continents and spoke about additional sanctions against North Korea. In response to the launch in recent days, the United States and South Korea announced that they will expand the military training that must end on Friday.

On Wednesday, North Korea had already launched at least 23 missiles of different types, which is Kim Jong’s record number one in one day. One of the artifacts in the water fell only 57 km from the eastern coast of South Korea, which means that for the first time in history, through a North Korean missile, the maritime border between the two countries.

In response, South Korean fighters fired at least three missiles at sea, including one of our precision, and can achieve objectives of up to 270 km.

Pyongyang states that the Shots series aims to respond to the main aerial exercises carried out by South Korea and the United States this week.

In recent years, tensions have been solved in the region. At the end of September 2022, North Korea achieved a record in missiles, with more than 30 projectiles, including the first intercontinental missile since 2017, it is Hwasong-12 on January 30.
